Lauren
Pryzant, a seventh-grader at Spring Branch Middle School, was
acclaimed winner of the $500 first prize in the Spring Branch
heritage essay contest, announced last Thursday night at a Mexican
Posada held in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market
at 7960 Long Point.

Thousands of Houston children wouldn't have had any
Christmas presents to open Christmas morning if not for the Houston
Police Department's Blue Santa program, a 19-year-old initiative
funded almost entirely by employee contributions.
