HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2004--The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will follow a route
starting at the intersection of Wirt and Long Point Dr., continuing
for 1.6 miles down Long Point to Campbell. Members of the USCTF and
Master Cheng's Tai Chi school will demonstrate traditional Chen Style
routines, Tai Chi Sword, and Tai Chi Staff.
Since his arrival in the United States in 1994, Master Cheng has
operated the International Chen Style Tai Chi Development Center in
Houston. The Chen Style is considered a master martial art due to the
high level of skill its practice develops. Also called Grand Ultimate
Energy Boxing, Chen Style is based on the Yi Jing, the Chinese Book of
Changes.
According to Chinese medical theory, illness originates from the
obstruction of the body's energy pathways and from energy imbalances.
By optimizing energy flow throughout the body, Tai Chi promotes
physical and mental health, reduces stress, and increases
self-control, exercising the mind and body in a slow, graceful, and
complete way. A session of practice develops the individual "from the
inside out" -- its flowing, gentle movements often referred to as
meditation in motion.
The USA Chen Tai Chi Federation, a 501(c)3 organization, is
committed to promoting Chen Style Tai Chi worldwide to benefit and
enrich the lives of individuals and to improve the communities served
by offering educational outreach, by cultivating excellent health, and
by developing the mind, body and spirit through the practice of Chen
Style Tai Chi.
USCTF activities include:
-- Organize and host Chen Tai Chi competitions for both local and
Texas venues.
-- Organize and host a Houston International Chen Tai Chi and Wu
Shu Festival.
-- Organize national and international travel for Tai Chi
competitions.
-- Offer Chen Style Tai Chi seminars and workshops.
-- Publish information on Chen Tai Chi and Wu Shu.
-- Develop and collect health benefit data with regard to the
practice of Chen Tai Chi.
The USA Chen Tai Chi Federation is located at 9730 Town Park
Drive, Suite 116, Houston, Texas, 77036.
